Stereo Creeps' 'BIG WET HARD BODY PARTY YEAH!': A Riotous Journey to Retro Recklessness

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

Stereo Creeps unleash a whirlwind of audaciousness with their EP 'BIG WET HARD BODY PARTY YEAH!'—a sonic blast from a parallel 1982 that's equal parts chaos and charisma.

Led by Sean Moe's vocals and guitar, Mark Wardell on bass, Robert Dollison on guitars, and Kai Strandskov on drums and vocals, this EP is a rollercoaster ride through a nostalgic yet frenzied sonic landscape. Recorded at Earwig Studio and masterfully engineered by Don Farwell, the album's mastered finesse by Levi Seitz at Black Belt Mastering adds a crisp edge to its rebellious nature.

Serving as a soundtrack to an ambiguous 1982 setting—equal parts teen summer camp movie and slasher film—Stereo Creeps craft lyrics that are deliberately dumbed-down, embodying a character that's part David Lee Roth, part Ric Flair over music that sounds like a cross between both Chris Spencer and Jon Spencer. Lines like those in "BODY" cleverly toe the line between cringe and clever, making them oddly infectious.

Do you know your own body? Yes I do

Does it make you feel naughty? Yes it does

Do you know how to party? Yes I do

Do you love anybody? No I don't

The toxic masculinity wordplay in "HARD" confronts notions of emotionality with an unexpected twist, delivering a punchy and thought-provoking narrative.

Smiling's pretty hard

Crying's pretty hard

The truth is pretty hard

Arguing is hard

Describing the EP as extremely fun, blending elements of butt rock and noise rock, Stereo Creeps construct a sonic party that's both uncomfortable and delightful. The cover art, a playful homage to Motley Crüe's 'Too Fast for Love,' sets the tone for this raucous journey.

As they revel in this character-driven extravaganza, the anticipation for Stereo Creeps' evolution post this high-energy blast is palpable. Exploring the space beyond this grand persona they've built or introducing a contrasting narrative through guest femme vocals could be an intriguing avenue for their future releases.
