'Hot Air Balloon' arrives as a fascinating companion to the band’s 2023 LP, 'All Fiction,' recorded during the same sessions. It's a glimpse into the band's creative laboratory, capturing a side of Pile’s artistry that delves deeper into atmospheric experimentation.

Pile, comprising Rick Maguire, Kris Kuss, and Alex Molini, found inspiration during 'All Fiction's recording, venturing into lush orchestration and abstract textures. Their musical canvas expanded, influenced by Portishead and Aphex Twin, resulting in a collection of over a dozen songs. From this trove, 'Hot Air Balloon' emerged, showcasing a more tranquil, introspective side of Pile's repertoire.

The EP's serene nature surprises fans accustomed to Pile's post-hardcore energy. 'Hot Air Balloon' sways with a quieter aura, emphasizing warmth over intricacies, yet retaining the band's nuanced songwriting. Tracks like "Scaling Walls" and "Only For a Reminder" intertwine ambient pop with a distinctive Pile flair.

Synths take a prominent role in these tracks, steering the EP towards a more experimental direction. "The Birds Attacked My Hot Air Balloon" and "Exits Blocked" explore whimsical tones, while "You Get to Decide" revives Pile’s past intensity, punctuating this serene journey with a gripping climax.

Pile is embarking on a 2024 tour, offering a chance to witness their musical evolution firsthand. 'Hot Air Balloon' is a testament to Pile’s continuous evolution and their knack for exploring uncharted musical territories.
